Giving back

This afternoon, we packed our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  If you aren't familiar with this, it is organized by Samaritan's Purse.  Each year our family packs at least 2 shoeboxes per family member, which means we do at least 18.  The last two or three years, we have packed 20!  We have been so blessed as a family, and we want to give back to those that don't have the simple things that we take for granted each day.  A lot of the items we use to pack the shoeboxes were free or almost free, so we are able to do more of them.  I also shop all year for items to put in them, so it isn't such a huge hit to our budget at once.
Have you ever stopped to think of the impact we as couponers could have on local, national, or international missions/charities?  How many of us have simple things stockpiled like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, canned goods, crayons, etc.?  These are things that we really don't think about, because they are so easy to get for us.  But there are those that don't have those simple items.  So many times, we are able to get these items free.  Why not pass these things on to others that need them and can't get them.  Do you know a family that is struggling this Christmas season?  What a blessing it would be to find a box or basket full of items to lighten the burden.  You could be a Secret Christmas Angel... or better yet, an Everyday Angel.  The Christmas season isn't the only time people are in need.
So let's all do our part to bless others!
